Majaz has opened at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr

Majaz Bab Al Bahr is the newest addition to the dining collection at the stunning Fairmont Bab Al Bahr.

The stunning Fairmont Bab Al Bahr has just opened a very classy and modern Middle Eastern restaurant and its called Majaz Bab Al Bahr.

The bright white columns of the entrance greet you warmly with the name of the outlet in discreet gold letters on both sides setting a pleasant tone to the entrance.

The interiors are also white with a collection of antique Middle Eastern artifacts adorning the walls with a series of comfortable private booths along one side and cozy tables for four very well spaced are dotted all over, the colors are very refreshing and the whole place as a cheerful look to it.

We were there last evening for the pre opening Iftar and were quiet impressed, the food is a modern take on the classic Middle Eastern cuisine and was quiet refreshing.

The tables were set with a huge variety of cold mezze waiting for us along with the traditional dates and Arabic drinks, there were some unique twists on the classics like the different variety of hummus and the yoghurt flavored baba ghanoush and the fresh bread straight for the one was like a fluffy pillow of warmth, delicious.

A selection of hot mezze followed, the lightly grilled shrimp in a tangy lemon butter sauce where the highlights we just couldn’t have enough, the Mozzarella sticks were stunning, the cheese just perfect and the crunch on the outside was delightful.

The mains were a selection of kebabs on a little table top grill to keep them warm along with some delightful tajines, the shish tawoook was fantastic and the lamb kebeb was just falling apart tender, we loved the prune and lamb tajine the best.

A selection of fresh manakeesh was offered next with the traditional sides of olives and veggies, the bread was just baked fresh and the zaatar topping with a drizzle of olive oil made it a delight to bite into, like an Arabic pizza.

The desserts were served next, four classics with a slight twist, the kunafa was the star, soft and flaky served with a dollop of vanilla ice cream in place of the traditional sugar syrup. The Um Ali and the kunafa were awesone as well, none of the desserts were cloying sweet but just right which was perfect.

We really had a great time, the foods perfect and the ambiance is delightful, we cant wait to be back to try the full menu once they have it ready.
