A Promising New Hub for Burger Lovers has opened in the Garden Plaza, Al Raha Gardens
Abu Dhabi’s vibrant food scene just got a fantastic new addition with the opening of Pickl’s latest venue in Garden Plaza, Al Raha Gardens. As long-time fans of this UAE-born and based premium burger and chicken brand, we were eager to check out their new spot, and it certainly delivered on the burger front!
The Ambiance
The ambiance at the new Garden Plaza location strikes a cool, industrial style note. It’s a focused setup with a small cluster of tables, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
You’ll also find some Pickl merchandise on display for sale, and for those waiting, a table tennis table offers a fun diversion.
A standout feature is the open kitchen, where you can watch the magic happen as your smash burgers are expertly prepared right before your eyes.
The Food
The standard Pickl menu is available in its entirety with the same guarantee of hormone free grass fed meat and the freshest of ingredients along with their classic, in house made sauces.
There is something for everyone, crazy cheeseburgers for the beef lovers, chicken burgers which can be customised for heat levels for the chicken fans and plant based burgers fo the vegan / vegetarians as well and each option can be completely customised to your liking.
We delved into a trio of their signature cheeseburgers: the fiery Buffalo Cheeseburger , the classic The Jeff Cheeseburger, and the smoky BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger. Each one was a masterpiece, boasting juicy patties, fresh ingredients, and that distinct Pickl flair we’ve come to love.
Pickl truly excels in its “smash-burger” style, pressing ground beef onto a hot griddle to create thin patties with those coveted crispy, seared edges. This technique not only develops a rich, flavorful crust but also incredibly retains a juicy interior. The flavors were bold and well-balanced, reaffirming why Pickl’s burgers are among the best.
A truly great burger experience is about the whole meal, and here’s where there’s room for improvement. The accompanying fries unfortunately fell short – they were noticeably dry and lacked proper seasoning, which was a real shame given the quality of the burgers.
We also tried the strawberry shake, which was decent in taste, but the straw provided was so thin it was practically unusable, making it quite frustrating to enjoy the drink.
The Verdict
Pickl’s new Garden Plaza location undoubtedly delivers on its core promise: fantastic, perfectly executed smash burgers that are well worth the visit.
However, for the experience to be truly exceptional, the supporting elements like the fries and the functionality of their beverages need a bit more attention.
With some minor tweaks, this new Pickl outpost has the potential to become an absolute go-to for burger aficionados in Al Raha Gardens and beyond!
