Pardon my Brunch, Nahaam, Conrad Abu Dhabi, Etihad Towers – Review

We try the new British themed Saturday brunch at Nahaam, Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers

Nahaam, by the pool at the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Plaza hosted one of the cities favourite brunches for ages, winner of multiple awards over the years consistently delivering excellent fare the Nahaam brunch has become a benchmark against which all other brunches are measured.

Then, once in a while they up the game with an entirely new concept and suddenly everyone is talking about it, this is what happened when they presented the Pardon my Brunch experience, an elegant and charming British themed Saturday brunch that will knock your socks off!

Gone are those ice sculptures, instead you are greeted at the door by a mini little London double-decker bus and inside are the classic red British telephone boots and postboxes dotted around enforcing the British theme of the brunch.

The weather is fantastic, the bar is open, a live band plays by the pool as we are shown to our table by the pool with a welcome drink from the cocktail wall at the entrance, we can’t wait to try all the classic British favourites and the premium selection of drinks on offer.

The Food

As the weather is gorgeous the brunch starts off in the main room that has the bar on one side, a wide selection of salads along the floor to ceiling glass windows and the food kind of flows in different directions from here.

We are quite taken by the Royal Platter that has some of the freshest lobster tails ever along with exotics like octopus carpaccio, oysters, clams, shrimp and the taste is crisp and fresh.

The door to the White Chapel looms ahead, and inside is a selection of the finest cheese, freshly baked bread and premium cold cuts. On one side sitting on a pedestal under a set of lights is this amazing creation, a sort of puff pastry pie stuffed with cheese that was amazing, sadly there was no name on it.

We move to the pasta station next, a group of immaculately dressed chefs are busy preparing pastas and each order is carefully created as per the instructions of the guest and sent off to the table once ready, amazing.

Taking advantage of the great weather the buffet spills out the patio along the side of the pool, taking centre stage is the extensive carvery station overflowing with all the traditional British roasts, smoked brisket, huge racks of ribs, shoulder of lamb, you name it, and they have it right there.

This is the heart of the brunch, a carnivore’s paradise, and they have all the trimmings as well, there’s mint chutney, gravy, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, the list seems endless,

We get a sampler platter with bite size pieces of all the meats, the smoked brisket stole the show, soft and moist meat b the inside with a great bark on the outside we had to get more.

On one side of the meat altar is the Indian section that has an amazingly flavourful biryani, a superb chicken tikka masala some chutneys for the biryani and a decadent paneer curry which we just couldn’t get enough of, fantastic.

Across this is the Asian station that closely resembles a street food hawkers cart from somewhere far East, featuring neatly sliced silvers of Peking Duck that are gently massaged into neat rolls with some nice dips to go with it, this is a must try.

The fish and ships along with the other classic British staple, bangers and mash are on another cart and there is fresh baked pizza as well.

That’s not all and as you sit eating a trolley comes over with the most amazing beef Wellington we have ever tasted, loved it.

At this point it’s been over two hours of eating, and we are absolutely stuffed, but we can’t finish without a few rounds gf dessert.

The Desserts

Let talk about the desserts, we’ve been to a few brunches in our time and have seen a decent dessert selection at most of them, but we have never come across a massive room full of desserts, from classic sticky toffee pudding to crème Brulé, jam roly poly, Dorset apple cake and the list goes on and one, it’s amazing.

The brunch ends at 4.00 PM with a theatrical presentation in the dessert room, the pastry chefs set up a glass enclosed area at the back where in true theatrical style, on the dot of four, they set about smashing all the fruit, chocolate orbs sweets ice creams along with any sweet stuff they can lay their hands on, smother the whole thing with liquid nitrogen, furiously mixing and twirl through the haze of nitrogen smoke and voilà, a dessert unlike any other is created that both the kids and adults seem to love, a fitting end to a superb brunch.

The Verdict.

The team at Nahaam have outdone themselves creating this fabulous new brunch which is unique in town, the food is as usual amazing and the menu covers all the legendary British greats, we missed the bubble and squeak though, but the rest is absolutely on point.

The use of premium ingredients with high quality meat and great locally sourced produce makes each dish amazing, the mixologist at the bar is a master at his game and will mix any drink for you getting it perfectly right each time, loved it.

This is going to be a hugely popular brunch once the word is out, so hurry and enjoy it gets sold out every week, brunches don’t get better than this.
