The ultimate in lounge style dining in Abu Dhabi is here at The WB Abu Dhabi and they have a new brunch to die for.
Perched atop The WB Abu Dhabi, with expansive views across Yas Island is, The Overlook, the pinnacle of lounge style dining in Abu Dhabi, and now they have a superb new brunch.
Just the mere whiff of a new brunch in Abu Dhabi is enough to get us ready to hunt it down and when we hear of the new, Cloud Seven Brunch, we just had to head over to give it a go.
The Venue
Let’s talk about the venue which doesn’t get any better than this, right at the top of the WB Abu Dhabi, around the pool with 360 view across Yas Island beyond is the aptly named, The Overlook Lounge.
We get off the lifts and are greeted by the sounds of a live saxophonist playing to a trendy crowd enjoying the brunch, the setting and the stunning weather.
It’s an elegant and intimate place with an amazing, well stocked bar on one side and different styles of seating areas grouped around the covered terrace along the pool. You can choose a table in the bar area or move outside to comfortable lounge style seating by the pool.
The Food
We are soon settling into our comfy sofa loungers and drinks are ordered, the food is an eclectic mix of Asian and Western with live cooking stations and some table service.
The starters are served at the table, first to arrive is a selection of freshly made sushi stunningly presented on a bed of ice in a huge bowl, loved it. There was a little red snapper salad, very simple and elegant, was stunning.
The bread counter is set up towards the far end where they have the grilling stations, we head on over and grab some fresh bread and dips to get started.
Right next to the bread is the Bao & Dimsum station, the chicken siu mai and the duck bao are absolutely amazing.
We head back to our table just in time as our drinks and a second round of starters arrive, the chicken and waffles are perfect, and we really loved the spring rolls that came on a bed of perfectly seasoned French fries.
So we have settled in rather well, the staff are friendly, polite and immediately make us feel at home with their excellent service and warmth. The boys have discovered the huge Komodo Dragon grills and are off to see what’s grilling.
So there are two of these, distinctive large red Komodo Dragon eggs, the first is the skewer station offering a selection of freshly grilled skewers done to your choice with a range of sauces that you can add. The beef and the prawn skewers were our favourites here.
The next Komodo Egg is the burger station grilling small, but exceedingly juicy bites of meat served in soft slider buns again with an exceptional range of sauces, the American and the Mexican sliders are the best we had tried in ages and don’t forget to try the falafel slider, absolutely delicious.
Tucked right at the end, featuring a colourful display of fresh ingredients, sauces and dips is the poke station, the lady puts together a sampler poke for us, the taste was absolutely amazing, the Tuna was delightful and the toppings she added we just loved. There’s this yellow Cayenne pepper powder and her chilli oil, absolutely a must-try.
There is so much to try, but we are absolutely stuffed, so we ask for desserts and soon a trio of desserts are served at the table and all three are absolutely amazing.
The highlight was this superbly presented platter, a duet of mango pudding and dark chocolate cake.
The Verdict
We will let the pictures do the talking, it’s an absolutely delightful venue, cosy, intimate with exceptional views. The food is just amazing and the excellent range of dips and sauces across all stations make it that extra special.
The service is also exceptional, we haven’t been made to feel so much at home on a first visit to any new venue ever.
The food, the taste and presentation along with the superb mixed drinks are the absolute highlights, followed by the service and the venue itself. Great work guys, we will be seeing you soon.
The Packages
The Cloud Seven Brunch takes place every Saturday from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM, packages start at AED 350 for the basic which includes house beverages.
