New Year Fireworks set two world records in Abu Dhabi

The 35 minute fireworks at the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival dazzles the world.

The Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba area witnessed a remarkable record-breaking fireworks display for 35 minutes to celebrate the new year.

The first record was set for the longest-running fireworks show, which ran continuously for 35 minutes with fireworks launched from 16 towers.

The second was for the longest Girandola fireworks show in the world.

Our friends at Gulf Today have been kind enough to share this awesome video.

The Sheikh Zayed Festival was completely inundated with excited visitors who came in early just to be able to get the best vantage points available and the atmosphere was electric in anticipation.

In the festival area, social distancing rules and number of crowd were controlled.

All pavilions hosted a slew of international artists and folkloric performances, making the festival a vibrant one.

Six areas in the capital, “the Corniche, Yas Island, Al Maryah Island, Eastern Mangroves, Khor Maqta’a and Al Wathba”, witnessed major fireworks displays that began at twelve o’clock (midnight), dazzling residents of the capital and its suburbs.

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee thanked leadership for its guidance and efforts to safeguard the community, as well as all frontline workers, citizens, residents and visitors for their commitment and cooperation, wishing everyone a healthy and prosperous 2021.
