Expansion diversifies Hudayriyat Island’s state-of-the-art sports facilities and reinforces Abu Dhabi’s status as a global sports destination
Modon, specialised in developing vibrant residential communities and world-class leisure and sports destinations, has unveiled the expansion of 321 Sports, Abu Dhabi’s premier leisure and sports hub. The development diversifies the already extensive sports offerings on Hudayriyat Island.
The expansion features the largest indoor sports dome in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, an Elite Club offering professional teams and elite athletes a dedicated space for training and matches, a community sports building, various sports pitches and courts, as well as a semi-Olympic pool.
The expansion adds one indoor FIFA-approved full-size football and rugby pitch, two elite FIFA- and World Rugby-standard natural grass fields, two full-size football fields with the latest astroturf technology, four seven-a-side, and six five-a-side football pitches for lovers of the beautiful game. Cricketers have one pitch and two batting cages at their disposal.
Racket sports enthusiasts can choose from six shaded tennis courts and five indoor padel courts, while swimmers can enjoy a semi-Olympic 25-meter pool. Furthermore, 12 changing rooms have been installed across the facility. Visitors can refuel in the new café/restaurant/sports bar.
Mohammed Thuaileb Alkhaili, Project Design Manager at Modon, said: “At Modon, we aim to position Hudayriyat Island as the go-to place for community sports for Abu Dhabi’s residents and a world-class hub with state-of-the-art facilities, where the best elite athletes from around the world feel right at home. With exceptional quality at its core, the expansion builds on our objectives to develop vibrant communities, unlock Hudayriyat Island’s full sports potential, and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading global sports destination.”
321 Sports provides an ideal venue for a variety of local and international sporting events. Its VIP and coach boxes feature the latest sports analytics equipment. Meanwhile, digital and data recording is enabled over the show pitch, with direct feed into coaches’ areas.
For spectators, the action-packed sports village offers large shaded terraces suitable for events and F&B pop-ups, and VIP viewing pavilions overlooking the two full-size FIFA and World Rugby pitches, alongside a 500-seat fan zone that can be expanded.
