This October, the chic destination has partnered with The Library Fragrance Boutique, and artisan tea connoisseurs Tchaba Tea, to create a very special, multi-sensory experience. The ‘Journey of Scents and Flavours’ invites guests to explore the world’s finest perfumes and aromatic tea blends, presenting a reimagined Afternoon Tea that’s wonderfully distinctive in every way.
Inspired by the perfumes of The Library Fragrance Boutique, Crystal Lounge’s exceptionally talented pastry chefs have created a spread of fabulous and artistic treats. Elevating the concept of the traditional Afternoon Tea to make it even more memorable and indulgent, each creation is inspired by the floral, fruity and spicy notes of the boutique’s bespoke scents.
Providing the most exquisite range of surprising and imaginative tastes, guests can sample wondrous palette pleasers like cardamon eclairs (inspired by cardamom notes), macaroon rose de petra (inspired by rose bouquets), jasmine mille feuille (inspired by aromas of jasmine), and many more aromatic cakes and pastries.
Further complementing this lavish array is a vast collection of quality Tchaba Tea varieties. Served from the tea trolley by the lounge’s expert Tea Sommelier, diners are invited to sample a wide range of blissful blends, sourced from the finest tea plantations from across the globe and designed to provide an uplifting boost for the mind, body and spirit.
The sommelier will also explain the flavours behind each of the 48 different blends and describe how they are paired with each of the divine edible delights. Further, accentuating the stunning recipes to even greater heights, this special experience also adds to the lounge’s charming and comfortable atmosphere.
Steeped in history, the tradition of Afternoon Tea has been celebrated by the St. Regis brand since the early 19th century when Caroline Astor, mother of The St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV, used to gather her closest friends and confidants for tea in New York. After The St. Regis New York was launched in 1904, the pastime continued on and it remains a key part of the brand’s heritage to this day.
Providing a chic ambiance and dignified setting for an unforgettable social occasion, the majestic Crystal Lounge is located next to the lobby’s grand and stunning staircase. Elegant chandeliers crafted from Bohemian blown glass add to the sense of regal tranquillity, while younger guests are also invited to enjoy a magical Children’s Afternoon Tea, filled with tempting morsels that have been specifically chosen to thrill and excite little ones.
