COYA celebrates its landmark 10-year anniversary

COYA celebrates its landmark 10-year anniversary and unique artistic DNA with the Pisco Jar Project, created in collaboration with over 20 talented artists from across the globe

COYA, the vibrant and stylish global lifestyle brand, is marking its 10-year anniversary by bringing all nine of its colourful international branches together for a momentous and creative art collaboration. The innovative Pisco Jar project is designed to honour the great legacy of the COYA brand, Peruvian culture and the uniting and uplifting power of art.

Marking a decade since the opening of its flagship venue in Mayfair, London in 2012, every COYA across the globe is joining in with the birthday celebrations and collaborating with local artists to customise and decorate glass Pisco jars in their own distinctive and unique style. Used to store Pisco, the traditional Peruvian national beverage, each COYA will proudly display 10 unique and specially designed jars for guests to admire and appreciate from the end of May onwards.

This worldwide activation symbolises COYA’s dedication to supporting and uplifting local artistic talents, and of course the allure of the Pisco Sour, Peru’s most famous and iconic beverage. Featuring over 20 eclectic and equally talented artists from across the world, each Pisco Jar is wonderfully unique and designed to represent the vibrant DNA and essence of the COYA concept.

COYA Mayfair displays Pisco Jars by Charlotte Posner’s

Starting at the flagship COYA Mayfair London branch, COYA has partnered with the brand collaboration platform The Caviar Spoon to enlist the help of much-loved British creative Charlotte Posner, who is known for her playful and contemporary works that highlight the issues surrounding dyslexia. COYA has also collaborated with Scottish-based artist Maggie Sadullah, who is passionate about emotional art and interfacing colours, and self-taught artist Matt Griff. Born in France and now based in London, Matt has contributed jars to both COYA Mayfair and COYA Paris, bringing his contemporary, Picasso-influenced paintings to both capital cities that he likes to call home.

Over at COYA Paris, Victoire Kammermann (who previously collaborated with COYA for International Women’s Day), has covered her Pisco Jars with depictions that illustrate freedom, and patterns that celebrate the many wonderful mysteries of life.

Pisco Jars by Johanna Fleming at COYA Mykonos 2

Moving to the sun-kissed Greek islands, COYA Mykonos has collaborated with Scottish-born artist and designer Johanna Fleming. Boasting a unique drawing style that carefully hovers between dreams and reality, her vast experience in illustrated ceramics makes her the perfect addition to the Pisco Jar project, this collaboration was also founded by The Caviar Spoon collaboration platform.

In addition, Monaco-born artist Lukas Avalon is bringing his street art-style and Andy Warhol inspired designs to the stylish interior of COYA Monte-Carlo, the picturesque party hotspot situated right by the bright blue Mediterranean Sea.

COYA Abu Dhabi

Over in the Middle East, COYA Dubai has worked with The Caviar Spoon to commission Belfast-born and UAE-based artist Anna McKeown. Known for her bright, funky and abstract prints featuring beverage bottles and perfume.

COYA Abu Dhabi

Other UAE-based artists who contributed to the project include collaging, surrealism and realism artist Ramsha Sh. A self-taught artist who likes to experiment with various mediums and techniques. Her jars for COYA Dubai and COYA Abu Dhabi are inspired by street art and a desire to recreate everyday reality in artistic form.

Pisco Jars by Moza Al Manssori at COYA Dubai

Abu Dhabi-based artist Moza Almansoori used bold acrylic paints to customise her jars for both UAE venues, while Egyptian female empowerment artist Farida Abushady, who was born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Dubai and previously exhibited her at COYA Dubai in honour of International Women’s Day, has also channelled her fine art skills into creating striking Pisco jars.

Abu Dhabi painter Hissa Almansoori has channelled her love for bold, almost cartoon-like images and her vast experience in decorating all kinds of objects, including items as varied as golf bags and jackets, to contribute her own mesmerising jars to this one-of-a-kind concept.

Finally, legendary UAE artist Fatima Al Hammadi was proud to bring her love for calligraphy and fine art to COYA Abu Dhabi. With a position working for the Ministry of Education on the national Visual Arts Curriculum, she has over 23 years of experience in fine arts and her paintings have been displayed across countless venues in the UAE and throughout the globe.

In Qatar, COYA Doha’s Pisco jar artists encompass Qatari creative Muna Al-Bader, who is renowned for favouring the colour blue, young local talent Ahmed Al Jufairi, who likes to focus on the idea of perspective in both a visual and conceptual sense, and the multi-talented Fahad Al Obaidly. A free soul who doesn’t believe in boundaries, Fahad is a fashion designer, artist, curator and film maker who favours minimalist designs and is always looking for new ways to express himself.

In addition, COYA Riyadh, which opened earlier this year, is presenting stunning Pisco jars decorated by several renowned Saudi artists. This includes Shrouq Bnt Fahad, who specialises in photography and art therapy, and multidisciplinary designer Danya Bayomi, who favours bold and quirky patterns, colours and materials. The collection in the capital city also encompasses narrative painter Noura Alsaud, passionate doodle expert Abdulmohsen Al Rowais, surrealistic graphic designer Lama Ismail and Jeddah-based artist Yara Bana, who is inspired by the rich local culture of her country and her wish to highlight social, cultural and spiritual observations through her work.

The above are just a selection of the many amazing up-and-coming names and imaginative creators who have joined forces with COYA to celebrate its momentous anniversary, and immortalise its lively and upbeat personality through the powers of art.

All the finished Pisco jars will be available to view in every COYA branch across the globe while exclusive preview images of each international design, plus previous COYA exhibitions, can be found on the Arts page of the brand’s website.
