The homegrown café concept opens its first Abu Dhabi location within the city’s ultimate ladies-only lifestyle destination
A new chapter in Abu Dhabi’s lifestyle scene begins this October as Al Bateen Ladies Club by Matcha and Backyard come together to unveil a relaxed beachfront dining experience. Opening on October 5th at 1pm, and welcoming guests daily from 8am to 8pm from October 6th, the partnership marks Backyard’s first outpost in the capital.
Guests can look forward to a curated drinks offering, with Backyard’s well-known innovative smoothies, juices and indulgent shakes complemented by a vibrant matcha selection, alongside a line-up of specialist coffees. The extensive drinks menu is paired with an enticing choice of bowls, buns, toasties and sweet treats, now available on the shores of Al Bateen Beach.
Spanning 20,000 sqm, the club has been designed as a sanctuary where women can move effortlessly between moments of vitality and calm. Days might begin with a reformer class or workout, followed by breakfast in the beach lounge on the private beach, where views of the sea set a serene tone. Afternoons are best spent drifting between the infinity pool, shoreline
and landscaped gardens, while evenings invite yoga, Pilates or time in the spa. The padel courts add another dimension to the experience.
Within this serene environment, Backyard introduces a flavourful, nourishing menu — the perfect companion to an energising morning, a relaxed afternoon, or a golden-hour gathering. To mark the collaboration, an exclusive Mango Matcha has been created, a refreshing nod to the creativity shared by both brands.
The design-led aesthetic of Al Bateen Ladies Club by Matcha provides an idyllic canvas for the Dubai-born culinary concept’s first Abu Dhabi venture. Neutral tones and lush greenery create a natural rhythm between indoor and outdoor spaces, while the beachside location allows Backyard’s easy-going, social spirit to shine through. Timed perfectly with the arrival of Abu Dhabi’s cooler months, the collaboration invites women to make the most of al fresco living once again.
Access to Backyard’s pop-up is free of charge for those who simply wish to enjoy the menu. For guests wanting the full Al Bateen Ladies Club experience, day passes start from AED 150 and provide access to the pool and beach. From 1pm on 5th October, the inaugural launch day will feature a DJ by the pool, bringing the perfect soundtrack to an afternoon in the sun.
