The Founders Memorial, situated right next to the Emirates Palace is a proud Nations tribute to the life, vision and achievements of the Late H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the Nation.
A place to learn about Sheikh Zayed through art, nature, words, stories, and multimedia experiences, The Founder’s Memorial offers visitors a range of personal encounters with the late Sheikh Zayed as a man and as a leader, enabling people to gain a deeper understanding of his vast influence on the UAE and the wider world.
The Founder’s Memorial Welcome Centre
This is the start of your visit, here you will learn about the man and his vision thru rarely seen footage, personal stories, articles and interviews with those who knew and loved Sheikh Zayed.
There is also a multimedia experience featuring a number of Sheikh Zayed Encounters, screened every fifteen minutes, that give you the chance to hear from the late leader in his own words.
The Constellation
The centerpiece of The Founder’s Memorial is a monumental public artwork by international artist Ralph Helmick called The Constellation, a dynamic three-dimensional portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed that can be experienced differently from multiple viewing points around the memorial.
At night, the shapes of The Constellation shine like stars, evoking the timelessness of Sheikh Zayed’s vision as a guiding light for the UAE people.
The inauguration of The Founder’s Memorial, which took place on the 26th of February, 2018 through the unveiling of The Constellation, coincided with the commencement of the Year of Zayed, declared by UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to mark 100 years since the birth of Sheikh Zayed.
The Gardens
As you move forward you get to walk thru the Sanctuary Garden and the Heritage Garden planted with the UAE’s national Ghaf Trees along with various others indigenous to the region and get to soak in the tranquil atmosphere as you approach the Elevated Walkway around The Constellation.
Visitor Information
The Founders Memorial is open daily from 9.00 AM to 10.00 PM and is free of charge to visit. Guided Tours are also available but need to be booked in advance on their website.
There is parking available on site and within walking distance, visitors are encouraged to dress modestly and are free to take pictures.
