Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi launches bespoke toy in collaboration with Make-A-Wish International and plaay?
Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi hosted an afternoon ‘Tiger Tea Party’ to announce the hotel’s collaboration with Make-A-Wish International, an organization that grants wishes of children suffering from chronic or terminal ailments. Shangri-La has partnered with plaay? a Luxury wooden toy company based in UK to create bespoke wooden tiger toys to raise funds for Make-A-Wish International. This initiative will see Shangri-La guests enjoy luxury with purpose, ensuring their travels help to make life changing differences to children
As a nod to Shangri-La’s Asian heritage, the tiger toy is inspired by the Lunar Year of The Tiger, symbolising strength and bravery in Asian culture. With every toy bought, 100% of the profits will be donated to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. The toy is handmade, created from sustainably sourced oak, hand painted with non-toxic paint, and a tail consisting of naturally sourced rustic twine and black beads for eyes.
These toys are priced at AED350 each and can be purchased by visiting the Gift Shop on the Lobby Level at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri. 100% of all profits will go towards granting the wished of critically ill children.
Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri hosted the Tiger Tea Party at the Lobby Lounge of the hotel, with guests treated to specially themed afternoon tea delights along with fun activities and treats for children. The team from Shangri-La as well as members and ambassadors from Make-A-Wish greeted those in attendance.
“Family has always been at the heart of Shangri-La and we are delighted to be partnering with plaay? to further support Make-A-Wish International and the life changing work they do for families. By working together this festive season with our Lunar Tiger and looking ahead to the Lunar Year of the Rabbit, we hope to make children’s Shangri-La come true,” says Elena Mendez, Shangri-La’s VP Marketing (F&B) and Corporate Communications, MEIA.
“As a small family run business, to be partnering with such a family focused hotel group like Shangri-La, in support of other families, is truly special and we are so pleased to be part of this programme. We hope our Lunar Tiger Toy, which represents strength and bravery in Asian culture, can bring as much joy to children around the world, as it did to us when creating it,” says Ben Sharman – Founder of plaay?, Luxury Wooden Toys.
