A superb new addition to the Pakistani food culture in Abu Dhabi is now open.
Going by the name one would think this is an Indian restaurant but make no mistake as its a Pakistani restaurant serving delectable cuisine form the Gujrat region of Pakistan and much more.
The Venue
Occupying a brightly lit and well furnished villa just opposite the Mussafah Park, Royal Gujrat is had to miss, along with full dine in facilities it has a sweet and coffee shop also attached to it adding to the attraction.
The interiors are furnished in royal style with two floors of seating, its regal chandeliers and bright interiors giving a lavish feel to the ambiance.
The Order
The menu is extensive covering a huge range of favorites form kebabs to nihari and you will find a Chinese section too just for fun.
We were tempted to do a quick takeaway and the restaurant helped with suggestions on what to order with customized spice levels which was a nice touch.
We went with a classic Mutton Karahi along with a Chicken Handi and a Tawa Kheema with fresh Naan. They served some salads and dips to accompany the food.
The Mutton Karahi was spot on, flavors intense and the spice level perfect, the Chicken Handi was a highly flavorful gravy with succulent morsels of chicken, we just loved.
The Tawa Kheema was a delight with a thick gravy perfect for the naan bread, the taste was excellent and the traditional spices gave it an amazing depth of flavor.
The Verdict
We are really happy with the food, great flavors, good portion size and all this at an excellent price point making it a place we will be back soon to try more of the menu.
Abu Dhabi seriously lacks quality Pakistani Restaurants where family dine in is possible and Royal Gujrat fills that gap perfectly.
