Dilip Rajapaksha, the Pastry Chef of Radisson Blu Abu Dhabi Yas Island, won the Gold Medal for Pastry Artistic at the Culinary World Cup 2022 in Luxembourg. One of the largest and most important cooking competitions in the world, the Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup puts together culinary specialists and more than 100 selected international teams for a spectacular gastronomic competition.
Chef Dilip bested 22 competitors in a pastry showdown for the books, winning over the guests who served as a jury with his entry Pastillage, a delicate sugar flower display created from scratch and perfected after months of training.
Celebrated as a pioneer of international gastronomy and culinary refinement for food professionals, the Culinary World Cup was held during Expogast, an outstanding multi-flavored event held every 4 years. An intense 5-day program is provided by promising chefs, 5-star protagonists, and fascinating dishes worthy of the most prestigious restaurants. Uniquely placed for specialists, this culinary event delighted guests from 55 nations with a festive atmosphere, innovative cuisine, and exciting gastronomic competitions.
