American pop superstar Christina Aguilera wowed fans in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night at Experience Abu Dhabi’s second edition of Saadiyat Nights, the three-month outdoor concert series.
Aguilera strutted onto the custom-built stage, telling a delighted audience “It’s so nice to be back here! Our journey together going back through 20 years of music and coming to see all your beautiful faces here makes everything so worth it!” The 7-time Grammy Award winner performed an array of her most famous hits, including Candyman, Beautiful, and Genie In A Bottle.
With more than 75 million records sold globally and being one of the few stars to top the charts in three consecutive decades (1990’s, 2000’s and 2010’s), Aguilera’s visit to Abu Dhabi underscores the capital’s position as a leading destination in bringing international talent to perform. Aguilera’s performance is the latest in a stream of hitmakers to take to the Saadiyat Nights stage, uniting a diverse mix of fans.
The second edition of Saadiyat Nights featured a string of extraordinary performances since Robbie Williams opened the series on 28 December. Among the acts to shine on Saadiyat Island during the event’s second edition were Canadian singer-songwriter Michael Bublé, American vocal harmony group Boyz II Men, and Egypt’s legendary composer Omar Khairat.
With that in mind, Abu Dhabi is still set to welcome the global superstar Jennifer Lopez on 20 February, Grammy award-winning star Gwen Stefani on 21 February (Ticketmaster.ae), and the iconic Lionel Richie on 22 February (Ticketmaster.ae).
Hosted on Saadiyat Island, the concert series is held close to the growing Saadiyat Cultural District. The open-air venue features a stunning backdrop of the island’s world-renowned vistas and is packed with diverse F&B options including neighborhood pizza hangout, Pitfire, cozy homegrown Mexican, Lila Taqueria, award-winning burger establishment Eleven Green, specialty coffee and dessert vendor, Nowhere Café and chic hotspot Aptitude Café.
