The Venue.
Located facing the Khor Maqtaa Maison Beirut has a charming interior reminiscent of a quaint Bistro in the bustling streets of Beirut, a haven of great food and quality time with friends and family.
It offers luxurious indoor and once the weather improves outdoor seating suitably distanced, they also have a stage where you have musical performances on the weekend that are not to be missed.
The Experience
The menu is all online, you have to scan a QR code on your phone and it pops up, such a cool feature in todays times.
They have a full a la carte menu and there is a set menu option that lets you enjoy all their best dishes. They also have a fantastic weekend brunch that is a must try as well.
The meal started off with some fresh bread, olives and a dip to get you going and ready for the cold mezzeh to be served.
Cold Mezzeh
There were fourteen different types of cold mezzeh that arrived, covering all the classics from Hummus, Tabouleh, Fattoush to come interesting ones like Mousakaat Patinjan and Shanklish.
The presentation was excellent and each of them had a distinct flavor and unique taste, the server took the time to explain each dish which made us enjoy them much more.
The bowl of raw meat was a first experience for us, we were a bit apprehensive at first but the taste was excellent, the marinade had transformed the flavor and it was heavenly.
Hot Mezzeh
Soon the hot mezzeh arrived, eight different types all beautifully presented, the Ras Assfour which translates to head of the bird was new to us, it was actually not a head of a bird but lamb meat sliced and cooked in onions and spices, just amazing.
The Swada Dajaj or chicken livers stole the show, moist tender with a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, we just couldn’t resist them with the Batata Hara, the spiced potatoes.
Mains
The mains were served on an ornate Lebanese tabletop grill with smoldering charcoal keeping them hot, there were tender cubes of grilled lamb, Shish Tawouk and Lamb Kofta with grilled onions, tomatoes and a salad.
After all the mezzeh we indulged in it was a challenge to down all this but the meats were so tender, moist and full of flavor we just couldn’t resist.
Dessert
Just as we felt we were about to burst the dessert service started, six different desserts were presented in exceptional style, there was a classic Um Ali followed with a delectable Halawat Al Jibin which was to die for.
The Ice Cream Baklawa was another stunning dish and we loved the Konafa which was an excellent was to end a n exceptional meal.
The Verdict
Maison Beirut outdid itself with its superb food, excellent service and charming ambiance. The Set Menu they advertise for two people is actually a family meal that can feed six comfortably.
The sheer variety of dishes on offer is mind boggling and each is exquisitely crafted with amazing flavors complementing each other perfectly.
