The world-renowned ensemble will perform twice a month at the exclusive waterfront venue
Hidden Bar, the alluring nightspot at Rosewood Abu Dhabi, is thrilled to launch a bi-monthly jazz night starring live performances from the supremely talented Boom.Diwan jazz band. Bursting into life on the first and third Fridays of every month, the much-loved Kuwaiti jazz group will be uniting music fans, socialites and beverage connoisseurs for an unmissable evening of upbeat tunes, premium beverages and amazing views.
Bringing the charm and magic of ancient Kuwaiti traditions to the cosmopolitan city of Abu Dhabi, Boom.Diwan’s enchanting rhythms are inspired by the century-old sea shanties that Kuwaiti pearl divers would sing during their long voyages across the Indian Ocean.
Influenced by fascinating global cultures, spanning as far as Zanzibar and India, the band’s own innovative brand of jazz is based on improvisation, fluidity, and dialogue. Spiritual, ethereal and led by beating drums and soulful vocals, Boom.Diwan’s modern Khaleeji jazz is a wonderful tribute to the history of the Middle East.
Filled with vibrant yet deeply meaningful melodies, the multi-national band’s extraordinary sound is the result of a collaborative effort between four supremely talented musicians. Ghazi Al-Mulaifi, Boom.Diwan founder, guitarist and professor of Applied Ethnomusicology at NYU Abu Dhabi will be taking to the stage at the stylish hangout with Dutch singer, songwriter and composer Jesse Boere, Cape Town jazz extraordinaire Claude Cozens and Californian multi-instrumentalist, and recent New York University Abu Dhabi graduate, Aaron Marcus-Willers.
Playing two enthralling sets for each jazz night, guests are invited to lose themselves in the other-worldly beats, explore Hidden Bar’s legendary selection of over 200 bespoke gin infusions, and enjoy chatting and catching up whilst relishing every second of the awe-inspiring performances.
Bringing people of all backgrounds together to bond through the power and joy of music, the atmospheric venue boasts a chic and intricately designed bar area that’s ideal for intimate musical renditions. Meanwhile, out on Hidden Bar’s picturesque terrace, friends and colleagues are free to relax on comfortable sofas and lounge chairs and admire the stunning panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and Abu Dhabi city skyline. Further enhancing the experience, the expert chefs will be serving up an array of sharing-style delicious bar bites and distinguished premium spirits, wines, signature cocktails and beers, ensuring that energy levels remain high until the sensational band play their last concluding note.
Each tantalising edition of Hidden Bar jazz night is entirely free to attend, with food and beverages available to purchase on an à la carte basis. Starting from 8pm onwards, the next jazz night will take place on Friday, January 06, followed by the first and third Friday of every month.
