Here’s a look at the Food Truck culture in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi.
Driving in Khalifa City we are sure you have seen this gathering of food truck just by the Al Raha International School roundabout, well this is the Khalifa City Truck park home to a growing number of trucks.
The food truck culture has been around for ages in the western world but in the UAE they started popping up just a few years ago and have become a fast growing trend ever since.
Food trucks can be found dotted all across Abu Dhabi and the Khalifa City Truck Park is one of the major locations currently featuring over 10 different trucks surrounding a well appointed central courtyard for dining out and ample parking all around.
Here is a look at what the Khalifa City Truck Park currently has on offer, things keep changing with new trucks coming in so its always fun to stop and explore.
Dot’s
Right by the entrance you will find Dot’s a brightly lit food truck serving coffee, breakfast and dessert truck serving excellent Bombolone and fresh brewed coffee.
Saddle
The newly opened Saddle food truck looks fantastic and occupies one corner of the park serving Crepes, Coffee and an assortment of breakfast items, sadly no steaks or juicy burgers here as of now.
Le Patchouli
Next up is the cool Le Patchouli truck which is a dessert and coffee parlor serving some excellent slated biscuits and specialty Arabic coffee. You can also get some fine crepes and waffles here as well.
Haar & Hloo
This is a very interesting truck serving delectable local delicacies, their Mashakeek sandwiches are just amazing and you can actually have a full meal form this truck, menu includes a range of grills, pasta, sandwiches and drinks.
Shot
Shot serves some very tasty breakfast items and they are also well known for their desserts and coffee. The Avocado Toast they have for breakfast is something we highly recommend grabbing in the morning.
Al Areesh
Al Areesh is a classic Lebanese sharwama and sandwich truck, their classic meat shawarma and the Arabic chicken shwaarma with garlic sauce are very popular.
Boutique
This is a classic ice cream and dessert truck service a range of ice cream rolls in popular flavors, the Nutella, Lotus and Passion Fruit and the hot favorites here.
3Aballii
A very popular home grown burger truck serving some really good burgers and fries, the menu extends to pasta and doughnuts as well. The Dynamite Chicken and their crazy Juicy Cucy burger are exceptional.
I Love Burgers
This sleek and shiny converter Airstream trailer serves excellent quick bites and burgers. Their Cheetos Macaroni and the Mushroom Macaroni are pretty interesting and the Dynamite Chicken is delightful.
Black
Black has a good menu covering breakfast, snacks some burgers, desserts and of course some fresh brewed coffee as well. The truck looks very cool and the staff is super efficient.
Chocolicious
Those with a sweet tooth will love this truck, they have a full range of desserts and ice creams covering all the flavors and some very flavorful shakes can be ordered as well.
So the Khalifa City Truck Park is quiet a destination for foodies and we hope soon to see more additions here, some more variety is sorely needed like a Taco truck, perhaps an Indian street food truck and a wok place would be really nice.
Sadly when it come to food trucks in Abu Dhabi we don’t seem to get anything other than burgers, ice cream, desserts and coffee. The culture needs to grow and the offering need to be more diverse given the cosmopolitan nature of the residents of Abu Dhabi.
