A very classy little gastropub serving excellent food and drinks at the Saadiyat Rotana.
Nestled deep inside the majestic Saadiyat Rotana Resort is this little gem of a gastropub called Hamilton’s serving classic pub grub and drinks in a chic industrial styled setting.
Featuring a large island bar with gleaming brass fittings, high ceilings, walls lined with glistening silver kegs and lively music Hamilton’s has a warm inviting feel. The indoor seating compliments a large outdoor patio that is perfect for this weather.
There are large screens strategically placed for watching all your favorite games while you relax and unwind with some excellent grub and drinks.
The Menu
We were over on a Saturday evening and the place was quiet busy with just one table available outdoors which we happily grabbed and settled down.
The QR code was scanned and the menu popped up on our phones, were were pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu which makes it more than your average pub.
There are the usual classics and some curious additions like the build your own mac n cheese and he sausage by the meter options, but hey this is a gastropub!
There is a good selection of hops and grape along with a long list of cocktails and spirits as well so there is something for everyone.
The Drinks
We settled on a selection of cocktails to start with, the Mojitos were stunning, perfect balance of sweet and tart with a crisp fresh taste.
The Mint Julep came in a chilled silver mug, crisp and sharp with the fresh mint adding its delicate aromas.
The Starters
We ordered a few of the classic starters, the Halloumi Fries were just amazing, crunchy on the outside with warm cheese inside. The Truffled Fries are a must have and the chicken wings with the Buffalo sauce were spot on.
We got their meat board to share, a carnivores delight and it was quit a star with four different styles of cured beef to nibble on along with some olives and mustard, definitely good for sharing.
The Mains
Hamilton’s has a great selection of burgers and the house special is the Hamilton’s Burger, a huge Angus patty in a soft bun oozing melted cheddar, definitely worth trying.
The fish n ships are delightful, the batter crunchy and the the Cod fillet was perfectly cooked , soft and moist. The thick cut chips has the right crunch and complimented the fish perfectly.
We loved the Buffalo Style Chicken Sandwich with its delicate fried chicken fillet flavored with the Buffalo Sauce, perfect crunch and a bit of heat, lip smacking good.
The Verdict
This is surely a hidden gem of Saadiyat Island, the food is definitely worthy of the “gastro” label and the “pub” part easily lives up to its name.
The service is excellent and the ambiance relaxing, the outside terrace is the perfect place to spend your evenings enjoying some great food and drinks while you watch the games on the big screens.
We will surely be making Hamilton’s our regular on Saadiyat Island.
