Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Eid concerts were enjoyed by crowds of music fans as part of entertainment extravaganza in the UAE capital
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is celebrating after organising spectacular concerts in a safe and secure environment to celebrate Eid Al Adha in the UAE capital, the emirate’s first entertainment events with live audiences in 15 months.
The concerts on Yas Island, attended by both residents and visitors, featured an impressive line-up of musicians including Assala, Hussain Al Jassmi, Myriam Fares and Tamer Hosny. The entertainment also included spectacular firework displays over Yas Bay for three consecutive nights, which were enjoyed by vast live crowds as well as being streamed on social media platforms.
The Eid concerts are the latest example of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to produce high-profile, world-class events, while observing stringent COVID-19 safety measures. The concert planning was based on DCT Abu Dhabi’s experiences gained from hosting the UFC Fight Island events and the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which both used the innovative ‘bubble’ system. Attendees at these events were further protected through a set of guidelines clearly communicated with attendees, including a mandatory 48-hour negative PCR result, in addition to full vaccination status on the Al Hosn app, with masks on throughout the concert. These protocols were applied at the Eid concerts, and will be at future events, to ensure maximum safety.
HE Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi, said: “It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm of people and the level of excitement to resume live events. This was reflected by tickets selling out immediately, within the allowed occupancy allocated for events as per the latest guidelines. The emirate has once again proved itself to be a global leader in operating COVID-19 safety measures and protocols, reinforcing our capabilities to be agile and innovative at every operational touchpoint to produce first-class events that set an excellent example to the world. We are also pleased about the solid performance of our hotels, showcasing strong occupancy rates and customer satisfaction over the Eid Al Adha period.”
