Executive Pastry Chef Manoj Lasantha from Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi wins three gold medals representing the UAE

Chef Manoj Lasantha, Executive Pastry Chef at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi was an integral part of the award-winning Emirates Culinary Guild team at the ‘EXPOGAST Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup’ held in Luxembourg from 26 to 30 November 2022.
The ‘Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup’ is one of the biggest and best-known culinary contests in the world. This year over 55 countries were in attendance, seeing top chefs from around the globe compete against each other.
Shangri-La’s Manoj Lasantha proudly brought home a total of 3 gold medals under the Pasty Art categories, winning 2 medals for his Petit Four Plated Dessert and 1 for his Wedding Cake display. The UAE sent a total of 27 chefs, including a support team from across the Emirates, to make up a collection of pastry chefs and artists from restaurants and hotels across the country. The team was awarded a total gold medal tally of 43 in all.
Executive Pastry Chef Manoj is responsible for the smooth operation of the pastry kitchen at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, whilst ensuring his team is always pushing the boundaries of culinary innovation. The hotel’s ever-changing afternoon tea offering is popular amongst foodies in Abu Dhabi and has received several awards over the years under the tenure of Chef Manoj.
