We take a bite of the Windy City right here in the heart of Abu Dhabi
The award-winning steakhouse, Butcher & Still at the Four Seasons Abu Dhabi holds a special place in our hearts, styled as a modern interpretation of a 1920s Chicago steakhouse it has a unique and charming feel and those tomahawk Steaks the chef does are amazing!
With Chef Marshall aka, the savage chef, in command, a great meal with the finest drinks is assured and when he decides to do something new like his Take Me to Chicago brunch the expectations are quite high but as usual, he knocks it out of the park.
The brunch timing is 1 to 4 PM every Saturday, we arrive a bit late and find the place absolutely packed with drinks flowing, live music, food being passed around, the vibe was amazing!
The Food
The Take Me to Chicago brunch is a unique concept, Chef Marshall brings the taste of all the Chicago classics to Abu Dhabi, it’s not exactly a buffet but a combination of live stations, table service with pass-around finger food and some very cool make-your-own-drink stations.
The Bloody Mary station was the coolest, you could choose to have yours with tomato juice or clamato and there are a number of different spiced salts you can use to rim your glass.
Freshly shucked oysters are the perfect place to start this culinary experience, we add some shrimp cocktail and the classic Butcher Salad then stop for a custom, extra-large spicy Bloody Mary, and we settle down to enjoy the music and soak in the ambiance.
On pass around is by far the best Chicago-style deep dish pizza in town and the steamed rib buns are to die for the corn is divine, paired perfectly with our next drink, which is the Negroni made by the expert barman, Joshua;
There is so much to try, everywhere you look there is something interesting to try, the place is packed, and the singers are moving around engaging the guests, encouraging them to sing along, it felt so intimate, like a family affair, with Chef Marshall holding court
The Highlights
Everything was so good that it was hard to decide what was best, we loved the Bloody Mary and the Negroni stations manned by the capable Joshua who whipped up a special dessert cocktail for us when we were leaving, great guy.
There are so many things to mention in the food highlights but lest keep it short, we loved the fresh oysters, the salmon tartare, chop suey,strip steak, and the seabass. The menu changes every week, so we need to be there each week to try the new items the Chef adds to the menu!
After all this, there was hardly any space for the desert, so we just try the homemade ice cream and the pecan pie, and loved the cotton candy.
The Verdict
This is one seriously good brunch, from the theme to the food and the execution, flawless. The singers move around engaging the guests and encouraging them to sing along and Chef Marshall mingling with the guests makes it that extra special
