Excellent weather and the upcoming National Day long weekend have many of us thinking about family activities and here are some of the best places to go camping across Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi has some excellent camping venues ranging form luxury glamping to basic and the number of locations you can camp has no limits, form the red sands of the Liwa desert to the foothills of Jebel Hafit or the beaches of Hudayriyat Island everything is possible.
Glamping in Abu Dhabi
Not a fan of roughing it out under the stars, want to be pampered and looked after while you enjoy a spot of camping, well here ae the options.
Bab Al Nojoum
Head over to Hudayriyat Island to enjoy luxury glamping on the beach, choose form basic tents starting form AED 350 to camper vans and full luxury chalets, they have it all.

Jebel Hafit Desert Park

Shuweihat Island
Situated just after the city of Ruwais in the Western Region Shuweihat Island is a stunning place of beauty and a long coastline dotted with rocks that have been weathered and eroded by centuries of tides creating unique caves and rock formations.
A great place for campers and lovers of outdoor activities, you can gaze at the stars at night or birdwatch in the say while you explore the caves and enjoy swimming in the calm waters.

Desert Camping
Being surrounded by the desert there are so many interesting places dotted around Abu Dhabi suitable for camping, ranging , form the desert of Al Khatim just outside Abu Dhabi to the Liwa Desert the choice is endless.
Razeen Desert Camping
Situated off the Abu Dhabi – Al Ain Road Razeen offers vast rolling dunes with small pools of water and endless camping opportunities.
This area is said to be the darkest spot in the UAE offering excellent star gazing and when the time is right you can even spot the Milky Way and take some stunning pictures.
Be sure to pack all your needs as there is nothing nearby to stock up and have your 4×4 fully fueled.
Liwa Desert
The deserts of Liwa are quiet possibly the most beautiful and isolated area you can think of in the region.
Vast expanses of dunes stretching to the borders of Saudi Arabia and Oman offer you endless camping oppertunities.
Be very careful as this is an area know to be very isolated with patchy mobile phone signals and not may facilities, not recommended for novice campers.
The views are stunning and the nights get very cold so come prepared and you will have the most amazing camping experience ever.
Wherever you plan to go make sure you have a well serviced 4X4 and plenty of food and water. Groups of three cars are a minimum if venturing deep into the desert.
Its a wise move to leave information about your whereabouts with friends and family in case of emergencies.
