The all day dining restaurant at the resort that presents a superb international buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Tides Restaurant at the Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort that’s situated on the shores of the Arabian Gulf in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi is the all day dining venue that serves an excellent international buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner all through the week.
On our recent visit to the resort over a weekend, taking advantage of their current summer family staycation offer, we dined at Tides several times over the two nights we stayed there. Click here for the amazing staycation offers ongoing currently.
The Venue
Situated at lobby level just across from the reception, Tides is a nice, bright and inviting place with the buffet lining one side and huge floor to ceiling windows on the other side that present a jaw dropping view of the superb pool and the beach beyond it.
The restaurant is quite large with different styles of seating options on offer and, true to its name, Tide features a nautical motif, with brightly polished furniture and shades of blue to brighten up the place.
The staff is very friendly and efficient, and they know how to deal with large groups efficiently, which is a great thing.
The Food
Tides is known for their superb and elaborate buffets that feature superb international and Arabic cuisine that is always fresh and well presented and currently with the full board / half board options the resort offers with its summer staycation package, Tides is the one that everyone goes to for their meals.
The day starts with a huge breakfast buffet with salads, cereals, fresh fruit, an omelette station, a selection of classic Arabic breakfast delicacies, some international favourites, and they always have a few Indian items as well.
The highlights of the two breakfast buffets we enjoyed were the mini dosas, just like pancakes, that came with an amazingly flavoured sambar and coconut chutney. The omelette station was always a hit, churning out whatever type of omelette you ordered to perfection,
The coffee was always fresh and delicious and so were the mini cupcakes and tarts from the dessert section, it’s quite surprising how they manage to keep each day’s menu different from the other.
At lunch and dinner again the entire menu would be different, and the buffet would feature over ten different curries and mains, a huge variety of salads, two types of soups and an extensive dessert selection as well.
Apart from the buffet, they also have a huge a-la-carte menu if one felt the need to order something special and even with the buffet they would have some items available on order like the pizza which they make to order, it’s a must-try, the oven is just behind the buffet and when they make the pizza the room fills with the aroma of baking bread, amazing.
One night they were grilling meat to order, they had some fillets of chicken, beak steak and seafood, we tried the steak medium, and it was super soft and yummy, loved it.
The Verdict
Tides is certainly a lovely place for a meal at any time of the day, it’s so peaceful in the daytime that one would just love to hang around enjoying fresh coffee and enjoying the stunning views.
The food, considering the volume they make and the myriad of dishes on offer, is absolutely amazing, each dish tasted great, and we admired how the team manages to keep the buffet fresh for three hours and that to three time a day, seven days a week, hats off to you Tides team.
