Porsche Taycan launches in UAE

The all-new Taycan launched with a special animation on the façade of the Burj Khalifa.

Porsche Middle East officially kicked off its launch for the all-new Taycan with a drive in event and a special animation on the façade of the Burj Khalifa, the largest single display surface in the world.

Staged at an innovative drive in venue at the Dubai Design District recently, the launch was the first of its kind in the MENA region, combining safety with spectacle with over 200 guests, seated in 100 cars attending the event.

A visually exciting light show, covering the total area of 33,000 square meters of the iconic Burj Khalifa followed, portrayed the brand’s most important milestones from the Lohner-Porsche revealed in 1900 to the cutting-edge Taycan.

Available in three models comprising the 4S, Turbo and Turbo S, the Taycan brings a sleek coupé profile with a four-door saloon body, with room for four adults. Intelligent use of battery cell placement allows for “foot garages” in the back which gives more rear legroom for taller occupants and allows Taycan to adopt a slender, 911-like silhouette.

Whilst the Taycan is the brand’s first fully electric model, Porsche has been at the forefront of electromobility for a long time. Today, plug-in hybrids present some of the most powerful flagship models in the brand’s range, such as the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid or the new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

The Taycan Turbo S is the most powerful sports car in the Porsche range, producing 761 horsepower and matches the 911 GT2 RS in acceleration, taking just 2.8 seconds to reach 100kph. Power comes via two permanently excited synchronous motors, one mounted on each axle, making the four-door sedan an all-wheel drive.

The launch of the new Taycan, Porsche presents its first ever fully electric model, setting another important milestone for the successful future of the company.
