Great food with a lovely outdoor terrace makes this an excellent place to dine.
Situated inside the bustling Souq Planet in Etihad Plaza Olio’s Gourmet has a unique location and with its all-day dining combined with a buffet, al a carte menu and an excellent outdoor terrace making it the perfect spot to visit any time of day.
The menu is an eclectic mix of middle eastern and international dishes form all around the world making full sense of the gourmet part of their name, Chef Hany and his crew make sure everything is as gourmet as one could expect.
We were impressed there was a full section on the menu devoted to Vegan and Vegetarian offerings, very interesting.
The Venue
This is a unique place where one would be equally comfortable ordering a full English breakfast, a seafood Paella or a Shish Tawouk and you will get exactly what you expected to high standards.
The interiors are bright and airy, tables suitable spaces apart with cheerful wall décor, comfy seating and a fully enclosed, well stocked buffet and salad bar.
The open kitchen is a hive of activity with white uniformed staff bustling around preparing orders and oh, the aromas are divine.
The Order
We were in at lunchtime on a Saturday afternoon and there were quiet a few tables occupied; we didn’t have much time so decided to opt for a takeaway while we went around the supermarket.
The Quinoa Kale and Grilled Chicken salad was a huge bowl of healthy goodness topped with the grilled chicken and a light balsamic dressing which was healthy, tasted great and felt right.
Next up was the Crab salad, one of the Chefs specialties made with real crab meat topped with Edamame and a bowl of cocktail sauce on the side, the crab was fresh and the salad had a great balanced taste.
The Dynamite Shrimp was recommended, turned out to be a delight, ten huge, fresh Gulf shrimp in a classic sweet and tangy dynamite sauce bursting with flavor, we were impressed with the portion size and the taste.
Having heard a lot about their Beef Teriyaki we had to try, tender strips of steak tossed with broccoli, mushrooms, peppers and onions in a teriyaki sauce, the flavors were intense, sweet, tart and tangy, the serving of rice on the side helped soak up the sauce making each bite special.
Theme Nights
Olio’s is famous for their theme nights, its Burger night every Monday and Steak night on Wednesdays, you get to choose the stuffing for the burgers, the type of steak you want and have it done entirely your way.
The outdoor terrace is the perfect sport to relax and unwind with your favorite steak, burger or just a cappuccino while you watch the sunset.
Catering
Olio’s has a specialized catering section that is a popular option for corporate events and private parties, the team will wow your guests with dazzling gourmet creations so next time you have a special occasion do give them a call.
The Verdict
We would sum it up by saying Olio’s Gourmet does many things and all of them very well which makes them an excellent place for all your dining and entertaining needs.
Great food, excellent service, fresh ingredients and a well-priced menu make them an excellent option and with the efficient service it’s a must try place.
Watch out for their Thanksgiving and Christmas offers, a little birdie told you there will be Turkey and Leg of Lamb to be ordered.
