Iconic F1, Le Mans and racing cars will be on show at the Dubai Autodrome from 8th to 10th December with tickets still available.
Dubai Autodrome”, a subsidiary of Union Properties, will welcome some of motorsport’s iconic racing cars including the Ferrari 643 driven by four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost, at this weekend’s Gulf Historic Dubai Grand Prix Revival.
From 8th to 10th December, “Dubai Autodrome” will be transformed into a festival with the third edition seeing more than 100 racing cars taking to the track across five categories.
Legendary sports cars from the 1960s will be making their first appearance in the event, including the illustrious Jaguar E-Type, Shelby Cobra and the Le Mans triumphant Ford GT40. The 60s category will feature the three-hour Dubai Sunset Revival, a race into the night which will test the endurance racing prowess of these historic machines.
The Tyrell 012, driven by F1 legends including Martin Brundle, Stefan Johannsson and Michele Alboreto will be in action in the F1 70s plus category while the Peugeot 90X, which won the constructors’ title in the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, will compete in two races in the Le Mans 2000s category.
Also featuring are the Porsche 962, an icon of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which has tasted success at the Kylami 500km, the 200 miles of Nürnberg and has a number of podiums across the world.
Furthermore, a number of former F1 drivers and Le Man race winners will be attending the three-day event. Three-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner and ex-Formula E driver Andre Lotterer, as well as former F1 driver and Formula E two-time champion Jean-Eric Vergne, will be among the racing stars to feature. Belgium’s Thierry Boutsen, who raced in F1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans for 10 years between 1983 to 1993, will also attend.
It is the third consecutive year the Gulf Historic Dubai Grand Prix Revival will be hosted at “Dubai Autodrome” as part of a partnership with GP Extreme.
As well as watching the motorsport races, there are plenty of off-track entertainment including live music, kids activities and exhibitors with tickets still available to buy.
Faisal Al Sahlawi, General Manager of “Dubai Autodrome”, said: “The Gulf Historic Dubai Grand Prix Revival has established itself as the Middle East’s iconic festival where legendary motorsport and entertainment comes together and we’re delighted to be hosting this event again at the “Dubai Autodrome” following last year’s success.
“The cars that will be featuring have all played important roles, helping teams and drivers taste success in prominent motorsport competitions from Formula One to Le Mans and this provides a unique opportunity for people of all ages to see these cars in action and up close in Dubai.
“While we’re proud to host a number of local, regional and international races, the Gulf Historic Dubai Grand Prix Revival is something different as it commemorates the inaugural Dubai Grand Prix which took place in 1981 and we encourage people to visit the “Dubai Autodrome” and experience this extraordinary festival for themselves.”
