The Sushi Nights at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi are one of the best in Abu Dhabi worth your visit.
Who doesn’t love Cho Gao, the vibrant Asian venue at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi in the heart of Abu Dhabi with has been the scene of so many happy memories over time.
Among the huge variety of events at Cho Gao are the popular Sushi Nights that take place every Tuesday and Thursday, and the talk was it’s always sold out, so we had to go and check out what all this excitement was all about.
So off we go to Cho Gao on a Tuesday and boy we were simply blow away by the food and the ambiance. We reached just before 7.00 PM and were shown to a delightful little table in a corner, and we quickly settled in.
At the dot of 7 the doors opened and a stream of sushi lovers made their way in, it was surprising to see how the diners were so punctual and soon the place was almost full and then the fun began.
The Drinks
We head on over to the quaint little Hendrick’s cart that has been set up to serve the signature sushi night mocktail, the Asian Kiss, a pineapple based mocktail that was crisp and refreshing.
Next to the mocktail counter is the signature sushi night cocktail bar that features a killer Rum and Sake infusion with coconut and coffee liqueur that pairs perfectly with the sushi.
The Food
It’s time to head on over to the buffet, there is a nice seafood bisque to start with and a range of salads on the side that we just had to try. The decor is classic Asian with colourful umbrellas on the wall, very delightful.
There is a huge rush at the sushi counter, the chefs are hard at work explaining the different varieties and serving the guests. There is an extensive variety of colourful sushi to choose from, and we join the line, patiently waiting for our turn.
The Ahi Poke and the Volcano Rolls are absolutely the tops and the most popular, there is a scrumptious Veg roll and the Shrimp and Tuna Nigari are to die for. We can see the chefs making fresh sushi right behind the counter, filling up the platters at top speed with precision and stunning presentations.
There is a lovely little counter where you can get the different sauces and condiments to accompany your sushi, we loved the spicy soy sauce they had which added a zing to the sushi.
The Desserts
We are completely stuffed and reluctantly have to curtail our trips to the sushi bar, so we can focus on the delightful dessert selection that is waiting to be sampled.
We loved the chocolate mousse and the cheesecake was absolutely divine. There was a delicate flan that was definitely a big hit along with the banana cake. The selection is quite extensive and a perfect way to end a delightful meal.
The Verdict
One of the better sushi nights in town, the food is fantastic and what makes this sushi night such a great one is the vibrant ambiance and the staff who are so friendly and keep a discreet eye on you, filling your glass when needed and clearing the plates in perfect timing.
We are impressed by the Chef and his team who make sure the sushi is fresh and refilled in time, there was never an empty platter to be seen, simply amazing teamwork.
The Pricing
The sushi nights are priced at AED 179 with soft drinks and AED 279 with house beverages, which we feel is a steal considering the huge variety of food and drinks available.
